It's getting darker. The monks are entering the platform where they are going to sit during the ceremony.
Some sky lanterns are already released from outside the festival area

The chants and the candle lights make a magical atmosphere!
Finally we are told to light our own lanterns
The monks are sitting in lotus position while people are starting to release the latnerns

While we're out photographing some monks find our last lantern and light it up

The Lanna traditions claim that all your bad luck disappear when releasing a lantern
Chiang Mai tuktuk
In Chiang Mai you can find another light festival on the same weekend as Yee Peng - Loy Krathong.
The locals prepare for the celebration by making krathongs, decorations of banana leaves and flowers
A bicycle taxi driver takes a break
The banana leaves are folded a specific way before it's attached to a piece of wood.
Some of the Krathongs looked like pieces of art!
We stumbled upon a small performance by a temple in Chiang Mai.
The river banks in Chiang Mai was filled with platforms where people could release their krathongs.
